The Good Carbon Farm is a New Zealand-based not-for-profit whose unique value is making climate impact tangible. They capture and store carbon in community spaces by converting plant waste into biochar. 

Before crafting the visual identity, extensive work was done to help TGCF clarify its vision, mission, and value proposition laying the groundwork. With a clear understanding of TGCF’s purpose and goals, we tackled the challenge of crafting a brand that involved merging eco-conscious messaging with visually compelling design, ensuring that every aspect of the brand communicated TGCF’s commitment to sustainability.

The design solution emerged through collaborative workshops led by HM, guiding TGCF founders to articulate their vision. Key milestones included the brand strategy workshop, which laid the groundwork for TGCF’s branding efforts, and the discovery of biochar’s potential through extensive research.

The project has made a significant impact commercially, environmentally, and societally. Commercially, it has elevated the brand presence of TGCF, fostering growth and scalability. Environmentally, the project promotes sustainability through biochar production and circular practices, mitigating carbon footprint. The Good Carbon Farm Branding, has been recognised at the prestigious 2024 Australian Good Design Awards. We are honoured to receive the Good Design Award Winner Accolade in the Communication Design category for branding and identity.
